The problem with NYC is there's just so much stuff to do and so little time to do it (as I was only there for a week, I went a bit nuts trying to cram everything in). LS's uncle is something of a big shot in the clothing world and was able to arrange for us to have a night out at a club owned by one of his friends in Soho.
So that meant a little bit of pampering & shopping was needed. We headed to the neighbouring village of Rye for a pedicure and manicure at Fashion Nails II on Purchase Street.

They have an enormous selection of colours and extremely friendly staff - altogether the pedicure and manicure came to $70 (excluding tip). LS had a Shellac manicure in Nude. Hyped up with our new favourite drink - Starbuck's utterly delicious Caramel Ribbon Frappucino - it's called something slightly different here in the UK - we spent the afternoon sheltering from an impromptu rainshower in The Westchester Mall.
After a delicious sushi feast for dinner - I've yet to find somewhere in Manchester that delivers sushi! -
We popped on our new glad rags and headed downtown to Soho on the subway from Grand Central.
A few glasses of free champagne later at Southside and we were grooving the night away until the small hours.
After a heavy night out, there was only one place to cure our hangovers - brunch at the amazing Soho House in the Meatpacking District. The food was amazing, oysters, fresh bread, meats, every fruit you could think of and chefs to whip you up a hot dish at a moments notice. Unfortunately, as it's a private members club, I couldn't take any photos though I did get a little excited when I spotted this guy, Danny Strong.

There's only one other place that was needed to sort out our throbbing heads so we headed to Central Park. It's incredible - I could move to New York just to spend every day in there.

By the next day, the weather had really picked up and the sun was blazing down so we dressed in our lightest outfits and headed downtown to the Staten Island Ferry.
After pottering about on the island for an hour or so, during which time I managed to get a splinter in my finger and burn a hole in my skirt on a stray cigarette, we decided it may be safer back in Manhatten so headed back and continued along the front to Pier 17. Pier 17 is full of arcades, funny little shops, cheap food and gives of vibes of that old British classic destination, Blackpool!

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is still under construction though parts are open and commemorates the September 11 attacks of 2001and the World Trade Center
bombing of 1993. American architect Michael Arad worked with landscape
architecture firm Peter Walker and Partners on the design which calls
for a forest of trees with two square pools in the center, where the Twin Towers once stood.

As my trip drew to an end, we just had one last place to visit whilst we were Downtown - the infamous Katz's Deli. Made famous by the 1989 film, When Harry Met Sally, I don't know if I had what she had but it was excellent Jewish food with a homemade feel.
